The conflict of global warming between government agencies, political parties and activist groups has been on-going and relentless for decades. Despite what people's personal opinions are or what scientific facts are present, the US government finalized a plan last week that will set new fuel economy standards which will save billions of barrels of oil, and ultimately reduce greenhouse emissions. The new standards will require automobile makers to build more fuel efficient cars and in return will also save buyers thousands of dollars/yr at the pump. "Officials said the program would reduce carbon dioxide by about 960 million metric tons over the lifetime of the vehicles regulated, equivalent to taking 50 million cars and light trucks off the road in 2030."This is an important step our country is taking in fulfilling our responsibility to our planet's future.
