For Everything Else There's Mastercard...

It wasn't with a Mastercard, Visa or American Express however that Dan Coyne,52 and a Chicago Public School social worker used for his gift to Myra de la Vega. It was his compassion, humaneness and soft-heartedness that led him to donate his kidney to his favorite local jewelry store cashier. Myra de la Vega,49 and mother of two would never in her wildest dreams imagine that the virtual stranger that walked into her store 3 years ago would be the man responsible for giving the greatest gift of all time; a kidney with 30 more years of life on the side. Maybe, next time when we think what to wear, what school to go to or what job to take is going to be the single most important decision of our lives, we will think of the decision Dan Coyne made which was hardly a decision at all. "It was an easy decision," Coyne said. "All I have to do is fall asleep on a table, and then the doctors take over." The two families have become extremely close and Myra stated, "It still makes me cry. It gives me chills because of his generosity."
