World Bank Lends Billions To India

Nothing warms the heart more than reading about efforts made by individuals, special interest groups and of course government institutions taking action to improve the lives of children around the world.

While the economic rise in India has done much to improve education efforts, the country continues to face many challenges. This may have contributed to the World Bank's decision last Thursday to lend 1.05 billion dollars to India for education development. 750 million dollars will go towards India's government's Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA),which aims to improve elementary education, while the remaining $300 million will go towards The Second Technical/Engineering Education Quality Improvement Project.

Not only will improving India's education system bring a change to society, but provide the children with knowledge, moral principles, social awareness and hope for their futures.
